Hi,

Águeda here. Sorry you're experiencing this issue, could you please provide some more details to help us troubleshoot? Has the device ever worked before? Are you sure you're trying the right COM port? Even if the port can be opened it may not be the one your CloudWatcher is plugged into.

Edit: I've noticed you had already posted a similar issue before (viewtopic.php?p=2442), can you confirm if that was ever sorted or if this is the same problem?

Thanks,

Águeda ~ Queen Bee

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. That's unfortunate. In order to troubleshoot we need some more details about what's going on. Please provide a screenshot, and also please double-check you have the right COM port. If you have any information about what could've got it to work last time that'd be helpful too. Can you identify any changes in your setup or how you use it before this and the previous time you had the issue?

Best,

Hi Filips.

A couple of suggestions.

Firstly, install the latest version of the CloudWatcher software, there were some changes to the CloudWatcher software after the version you are currently using to improve reading of the sensors in the CloudWatcher device, download link for the latest stable desktop version below:

https://lunaticoastro.com/aagcw/AAGCW-Install.exe

Secondly, with the power switched off, disconnect the cable-plug at the CloudWatcher device and check that the plug and socket is dry, if the plug and socket are wet then dry with paper towel and make sure both plug and socket are thoroughly dry before reconnecting the plug and socket tightly to ensure that the socket's waterproof seal is working properly.

Lastly, if you are using a USB to RS232 serial adaptor, in Windows 10/11 > Power settings > Power Options > Advanced settings make sure to disable USB Selective suspend, (see below), which is a Microsoft power saving feature designed to shut down any USB devices it thinks are not being used at a high enough load to warrant leaving switched on continually.

HTH

Will.

Hi Filips

From your description of the problem this could be an issue with your PC, the Windows OS, the USB-RS232 Serial Port adaptor, the CloudWatcher device, the CloudWatcher power supply or the cabling, there is not enough information provided to make any progress in identifying the cause.

If the suggestions I made earlier have been tried but did not help to resolve the problem then it's probably best to contact Lunatico Support by email to get you in direct contact with some specialist support:

Because this forum section is publicly accessible without user login required I have added the email address for support as a screen-shot to help prevent bot spamming:
