GNS shows disconnection every 60 minutes or random

Post: # 3099Post gegolden

Miguel

Ever since I switch ISP's I would get a disconnection alarm every 60 minutes from GNS that I lost connection with APT. I would also get a disconnect from google remote. I use google remote to monitor my mini pc's on the scopes

The fix:
My router has the capability for all three bands. So the internal router settings were (and can't be changed) .... that every 60 minutes it would poll each connected device and then switch them to 2.4, 5 and 6 to get the best ghz connection!! Normally the change between bands is transparent...but not for GNS and APT as well as my Google Remote. The fix is to split the bands within the router setting....to separate logins to prevent band switching. I now have a separate login for each band. I have a login for 2.4ghz and another login for 5 and another for 6 ghz. I switched my mini computers, ipad and tablet to auto connect to the 5ghz wifi login and had those connections forget the 2.4ghz login. The router can't switch the bands for them now. Since those changes were made , I have had ZERO disconnections!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It works and communicates just as before and just as it should.

A NOTE OF CAUTION. If you have to spilt the bands to separate login's, keep the same login and SSID for 2.4ghz as that is where most of my (and probably yours) little stuff connects.. like a ring doorbell and the garage door. So the new logins were for the 5 and 6 where I could switch up to those.

Cheers

Hey Greg,

Jaime here - thank you very much for the update, that's very useful. And, true, advanced WiFi equipment are making it hard for some devices and purposes, very nice solution you found.

Best regards,

jaime
