Watch on YouTubeWe can supply the adapting cable—this also works for the EXP connector: if you have an old controller with a male EXP socket, use pins 5 and 4 instead of 1 and 2, as shown in the video.
Note: in recent versions of the software the speed is specified in microseconds, so change the "50" shown in the video to 50000.
DC motors are NOT steppers—they are more prone to slipping, so make sure everything runs smoothly before autofocusing with them.
