For example: we set, long ago, a fixed IP address in our Dragonfly, then we changed the router and forgot to update the Dragonfly address in advance. Similarly, we may need to update the software or firmware but lack internet access in the observatory.

The Dragonfly will execute a script, if present in a USB pen, a few seconds after inserting the pen.

Example: getting back to an automatic (DHCP) address

The steps would be:

  • Get this file: dragonpi/PenScripts/backtodhcp/dragonfly.txt …and save it to a USB pen, formatted in FAT32.
  • Insert the pen in the Dragonfly, and in at most 10 seconds it will change the network configuration back to DHCP.
  • So, wait, let's say 20 seconds, then remove the pen. The Dragonfly should be rebooting by now. When done, it will get an address the same way it did when factory fresh.

Updating software or firmware without internet

There is also dragonpi/PenScripts/updateSW/updatesw.zip, and dragonpi/PenScripts/updateFW/updatefw.zip—to update the software and firmware respectively, in case of lack of internet access.

For these cases, please extract the files from the zip archive, copy them to the USB pen, and check if there is any "readme" file among them; if so, please do read it.
